Une voix de synth\u00e8se lit la d\u00e9finition de l\u2019eau extraite de Wikip\u00e9dia.<\/p><p>Les visiteurs se tiennent au-dessus, exclus de l\u2019eau. Pourtant, chacun peut facilement y plonger les mains.<\/p><p>L\u2019installation est \u00e9quip\u00e9e de capteurs infrarouges (interface-z IR) qui d\u00e9tectent les ondulations provoqu\u00e9es par les interactions. Lorsque des vagues apparaissent, la couche num\u00e9rique de l\u2019eau dispara\u00eet, r\u00e9v\u00e9lant l\u2019eau r\u00e9elle. Simultan\u00e9ment, la voix de synth\u00e8se s\u2019estompe et le son naturel de l\u2019eau devient audible.<\/p><p>Les visiteurs passent alors de la couche cognitive \u00e0 la couche sensorielle.<\/p><p>L\u2019homme vient de l\u2019eau : micro-organismes n\u00e9s dans l\u2019eau, puis poissons, t\u00e9trapodes\u2026 une longue lign\u00e9e de bip\u00e8des jusqu\u2019\u00e0 nous, Homo sapiens. Que reste-t-il de notre lien \u00e0 la nature lorsque nous connectons le monde \u00e0 travers des interfaces technologiques ? Ces interfaces deviennent-elles plus r\u00e9elles que le r\u00e9el ? Avec le temps, ces cartes d\u00e9mesur\u00e9es ne suffirent plus, et le Coll\u00e8ge des Cartographes \u00e9labora une carte de l\u2019empire ayant la taille de l\u2019empire, et co\u00efncidant point par point avec lui. Les g\u00e9n\u00e9rations suivantes, moins attach\u00e9es \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tude de la cartographie, jug\u00e8rent cette carte immense inutile, et non sans une certaine impitoyable pi\u00e9t\u00e9, la livr\u00e8rent aux intemp\u00e9ries du soleil et des hivers. Dans les d\u00e9serts de l\u2019Ouest subsistent encore aujourd\u2019hui des ruines d\u00e9chir\u00e9es de cette carte, habit\u00e9es par des animaux et des mendiants ; dans tout le pays, il ne reste aucune autre trace des sciences g\u00e9ographiques.\"<\/p><p><em>Simulacres et Simulation \u2013 Jean Baudrillard sur la fable de Jorge Luis Borges<\/em><\/p><p>\"Le territoire ne pr\u00e9c\u00e8de plus la carte ni ne lui survit. C'est d\u00e9sormais la carte qui pr\u00e9c\u00e8de le territoire, c'est elle qui engendre le territoire et, s'il fallait reprendre la fable, c'est aujourd'hui le territoire dont les lambeaux pourrissent lentement sur l'\u00e9tendue de la carte. C'est le r\u00e9el, et non la carte, dont des vestiges subsistent \u00e7\u00e0 et l\u00e0, dans les d\u00e9serts qui ne sont plus ceux de l'Empire, mais le n\u00f4tre. L'interaction se fait par l'interm\u00e9diaire de capteurs IR interface-z.
