Philippe Chollet Portfolio

[Guéna]

In the 90s, I co-founded the Association Musique & Exploration. It was at that time that I produced my first media work in Central Africa and Central Asia. It involved photography, video, and sound recording. Initially approaching my projects journalistically, I gradually moved to an artistic approach.

From the 00s onwards, I explored the new narrative made possible with New Media, particularly in the field of reportage. In this new digital age, I also took an interest in the redefinition of space and time as well as the reshaping of geography. I, thus, created several interactive installations that were exhibited at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie in Paris or at the Institute of International Visual Arts in London. I was also involved in a number of writing projects, notably science fiction for La Revue du Cube.

At the same time, I was lecturing at London Metropolitan University in the UK and at the Royal University of Fine Arts in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I also created and coordinated various media projects, including the Destination Francophonie video competition in collaboration with the Institut français and TV5Monde.

More recently, in the 20s, I developed a passion for digital cartography and its ability to tell new stories. I apply this to creations that draw their inspiration from explorations in Cambodia and on the planet Mars.
